- Archery History
I began archery in the hopes to spend more time with my husband whom was already a avid archer and bow hunter. I quickly became addicted to the sport and decided to join in 3D Archery to help to hone my yardage judging abilities and practice my shot placement. I was voted in a couple of positions as the secretary and treasurer at my local archery club. Which led me to bow hunting, it was another chance to spend more time with my husband rather than be left at home. I quickly learned the ropes and became immersed in bow hunting 365 days a year. I became involved with competing in Tournament 3D Archery on a national level. My husband and I spent many years traveling to compete in 3D tournament archery and had a great time doing it. and made some great friends along the tournament trail. And took a job managing a Archery Pro Shop for 5 years. My good friend introduced me to the sport of bow fishing and I jumped into it full bore and even started competing with them in bow fishing tournaments. I have completed the necessary Archery Instructor Courses to become a Archery Instructor and have enjoyed introducing others to the great sport of archery for many years. I volunteer as an Archery Instructor at several local National Wild Turkey Federation Women In The Outdoors events and as a volunteer bow fishing instructor at some of these events, as well as Girl Scout Camps. As a member of the Illinois Bow Fishing Club I also volunteer as a Archery Instructor for the kids free archery booth at the Illinois Deer & Turkey classic, as well as a volunteer at the Illinois Bow Fishing Clubs educational booth at the Illinois Deer & Turkey Classic and as a volunteer Archery Instructor at the Illinois Department Of Natural Resources Family Fishing Fair. I am currently bow hunting a University Of Illinois owned park on a herd reduction bow hunt to help to maintain the balance of the herd within the park. I no longer bow hunt with my husband since i like to do my own thing now and have become very blessed in my bow hunting ventures, but we still like to hunt a few hundred yards apart one or twice a year. I have become involved with self filming my bow hunts and have found it to be a great way to capture the great time I have in the woods and share it with others.
