Archery History

You know how some people grow up knowing that they were born to be a doctor, lawyer, or engineer? I was born to shoot a bow. From the time that I can remember when I was a little girl, I can remember playing outside, building a bow out of a tree branch and string, dreaming of being able to own my own real bow. Unfortunately, my family was very big into rifle hunting but did not support archery, denigrating the sport as a bunch of “splinter flickers”. I always told myself that one day that I would own a bow but was afraid because of the conflict that it would start in my family.

I started shooting January 22nd 2011, not even a year and I have already accomplished many goals in archery. The ensuing weeks, I practiced in Animal league, blue face, and my local range for hours during the week. Needless to say, I was hooked. Soon after, I started shooting in the archery leagues in the area, refining my skill as much as possible until I was able to attend my first 3-D shoot. It was at the local archery club Colyak, which is located in Richland, WA. That weekend, I placed 2nd in the Women’s Bowhunter division.

Shooting Accomplishments

I am very proud of my accomplishments so far, though my goal is to be the best female shooter in the state of Washington. However, my greatest archery achievement came very recently, about two weeks ago around La Cross, WA. It was Sunday, September 18th, at about 10am. That day, while hunting with my best friend, I shot my first animal in my life, a 5x5 Mule Deer. It was one of the most thrilling moments of my life, the sense of accomplishment and the excitement of my first animal was amazing.

I love anything to do with the outdoors. Taking a nap under an old pine and waking up to nothing but the tree's!!!!
Community, I help a lot with my ward "church", my children's activities at school and for the YMCA.

Short Bio and Other Interests

As for the particulars about me, I am 32 years old and live in Richland, WA. I have two beautiful daughters, who I love very dearly. I am a college graduate, with an Associate Degree in Network Engineering and am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s in Environmental Science so that I can pursue a career working for the Forest Service so that I can go and spend as much time in nature as possible. Although, given my affinity for archery, if possible, I would really love to become a professional hunter or shoot professionally, if possible because archery is my greatest love only second to my family.
